We recognize and understand that corporate governance is the cornerstone of our organization and therefore it requires that we operate in a responsible, ethical and professional manner in our business affairs.

The Africabx Advisory Board comprises of highly proficient professionals across diverse disciplines who have the relevant expertise and competencies to provide the range of perspectives, insights and challenge needed to support good-decision making by the Board. This ensure the board is able to appropriately address current and emerging issues, that will enable the delivery of the organisations strategic objectives.
The board members provide the appropriate balance between knowledge, skills, experience, independence, and diversity. The primary role of the advisory board is to provide governance oversight, strategic advice, valuable industry insights and guidance on matters relating to the commercial viability of the organization and developmental objectives.
The Board delegates its authority to committees with the mandate to deal with relevant governance issues and report back to the Board on them on a quarterly basis. Each committee operates under terms of reference setting out roles and responsibilities, composition and scope of authority. These are reviewed every year.

Chairperson
Messu has over 25 years of corporate and investment banking experience, where he started off his career as a mining analyst; and during his career he has raised capital of over a billion dollars.
Messu has exposure to the successful delivery of M&A transactions within the fields of: mining and resources; energy; infrastructure; industry and manufacturing and the Small to Medium Enterprise (“SME”) industry. He has served as an Analyst, Associate Manager, Account Manager, Head of Department and CEO for some of the leading investment banking and Developmental Financial Institutions (DFI’s) in South Africa, such as: Gensec Investment Bank; the Industrial Development Corporation; and Rand Merchant Bank to name a few.
Messu has a vast network extending to both the private and public sectors within South Africa as well as within Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and the USA.
Messu has a passion for investing in Africa and he seeks to advise and implement transactions for international clients that see the potential of investing in Africa’s vast untapped resources, whilst at the same time raising capital for local clients.
Messu holds a BCom Honours degree in Finance and Marketing from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in the USA.
Tsepo Ntshona
Executive Director
Tsepo is a dynamic executive leader with cross-functional experience, holding various senior management positions with line accountability for corporate governance, corporate strategy, corporate finance, stakeholder governance, risk governance, and business management administration.
His business acumen and leadership accomplishments have been recognized by industry peers and resulted in a Gold Award at the prestigious ROCCI Business of the Year Awards 2019 and invitations as a guest speaker on radio stations and as a key note speaker at events to share his insights on leadership, governance, and corporate strategy.
Prior to Africabx he was the CEO of BMS Network International, a business management support enterprise focused on Small-to-Medium Enterprises (SME’s) development, with an international footprint of associate and strategic partners across Africa, North America, Latin America, Europe, and UAE.
Alick Kapeza
Independent Non-Executive Director
Alick is a UK qualified Chartered Accountant and Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accounts (FCCA).
He is a finance executive with more than 20 years’ experience in finance of which more than 8 years have been at executive level as Chief Financial Officer.
He has extensive experience in Investment Management, which includes financial modelling, deal origination, investment modelling, investment analysis, merger and acquisition analysis, investment accounting and due diligence.
Alick holds a B.S.C Honours Degree from Oxford Brookes University, Post Graduate qualifications in Strategic Management and Project Management.
Amalia Hendricks
Independent Non-Executive Director
Amalia is a leadership development practitioner, speaker and executive coach, working in curriculum design and delivering of senior leadership training programs.
Amalia’s niche specialises in transformation, cultural intelligence and cross boundary leadership.
Throughout her career, she has collaborated with global leaders, non-profit organizations, and corporate executives, across continents, to develop bespoke training modules and projects.
She works with clients from public, private and voluntary sectors. With over 20 years of global experience, Amalia has worked in China, the Middle East, West Africa, Europe and the UK.
Amalia graduated from Common Purpose’s Matrix Programme in the UK in 2009. Her dedication to excellence and commitment to empowering others, make her a sought-after expert in the field of leadership development.
Cassandra Gabriel
Independent Non-Executive Director
Cassandra has a long history of involvement in the ICT sector, public policy, and socio-economic development. In the 80’s she was actively involved in civic rights struggles and the mass democratic movement.
Her work experience spans 31 years across civil society, NGO’s, government and the corporate sector, in media liaison, public outreach, parliamentary liaison, government relations and stakeholder management.
She has held roles of the Kwa-Zulu Natal Head of Public Education and Outreach for the Constitutional Assembly (Parliament), Ministerial Media Officer, and Executive: Parliamentary and Government Liaison for Telkom and Denel (Chief of Staff). She has also formed part of the South African delegation for preparatory work in the UN International Telecommunications Union (ITU) World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) in Geneva and also represented Telkom at meetings of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO).
In 2006, she was appointed as Chairperson of the Universal Service and Access Agency (USAASA) by the Minister of Communications. She managed to unlock the USAF Fund of R 500 million from the National Treasury for the first time in history of USAASA.
Cassandra has represented companies she has worked for in Parliamentary presentations (Telkom, Denel, USAASA) and has represented her country in bi-lateral and multi-lateral meetings and conferences in India, UAE, Brazil, State Visit to France, UN ITU and CTO.
She owns her own consulting firm Gabriel and Associates and is also a board member of the Institute for Stakeholder Relations Southern Africa (ISRSA).
Cassandra is well learned and obtains qualifications of a Postgraduate Degree in Telecommunications Regulation, Policy and Management (WITS P & DM), Masters in Leadership (UNISA), Honours Degree in Gender Studies (UKZN) and a BA Degree (Fine Arts.)
Dr. Jerry Luftman
Independent Non-Executive Director
Jerry’s career combines the strengths of CIO/practitioner, management consulting, and academia.
After a distinguished 22 years’ career with IBM (where he was among the strategic leaders of the IBM Palisades Executive Education Center, and CIO), he has an exemplary career for 20 years as Professor, Founder, and Associate Dean with the Stevens Institute of Technology Information Systems programs (one of the largest in the world).
Driven by the strong demand for a global executive education program focusing on managing the digital transformation, Dr. Luftman leveraged his experience as a CIO, and renowned network of prominent academics and IT practitioners to establish the Global Institute of IT Management (GIIM), headquartered in USA.
He is also an accomplished authored of 19 books and has published research, as well as a sort after public speaker, executive coach and mentor.
Neo Sehume
Independent Non-Executive Director
Neo Sehume is an experienced Senior Executive in the media and public relations arena with 29 years in the communications field.
His media career began in 1993 at BOP TV in the erstwhile Bophuthatswana as a television news reporter. In 1995 joined the North West provincial government as Public Relations Officer. Within a year he was recruited by the corporate world and became an Account Executive for FNB at its group Public Relations at its head-quarters in Johannesburg. By 1998 the television world beckoned again and he joined the SABC.
He spent 15 years in various positions as a television researcher, producer, Bulletin Editor, Executive Producer, SABC AFRICA News Editor. In 2012 he was appointed as the chairperson of the SADC Journalist Union for 2 years. In 2013 he was recruited by the Gauteng Government to establish its narrow-casting television network GPG-TV. There he has held the position of Director News, Marketing and Branding.
He has been a key contributor for some of the Gauteng government critical key online and public interface projects & events.
